Obsessive Compulsive DisorderI help people to overcome fears and habits that are preventing them living the life they want.
OCD is an anxiety driven mental disorder in which the unconscious mind uses repetitive behaviours aimed at reducing the anxiety. Some common symptoms are: repetitive hand-washing, obsessive cleaning, constant checking (e.g. electrical appliances), hoarding and obsessive thoughts. Although these behaviours may appear bizarre to others, OCD sufferers often recognise their thoughts and actions as being irrational or paranoid and sadly they may become more distressed by this realisation.

I have helped a number of clients with OCD. One client was spending hours trying to leave his house due to the ritualistic checking he was doing before being able to leave. He had been in traditional therapy for 10 years without success. We had a total of 18 sessions together, by which time he could get out the house in 12 minutes. His Obsessive Compulsive Disorder wasn't completely gone but he was then at a place where he could cope.
